The X-ray Lasers Emit Laser Pulses

According to media reports, as the world's first to produce X-ray laser facilities, the European X-ray free electron 5000mw laser pointer device has launched the first laser pulse, is also officially put into use in September before the last important milestone.

The installation is installed in a facility with a total length of 3.4 km, most of which is located in underground tunnels. The X-ray laser pulse has a wavelength of 0.8 nm and is about 500 times shorter than the visible wavelength. The repetition frequency of the first laser pulse is 1 pulse per second and then increases to 2.7 million pulses per second.

"This is an important testimony that we have worked with our partners for many years," said Robert Feidenhans'l, Managing Director of XFEL Europe. "The first X-ray blue laser pointer produced in Europe, the first of its participation in research facilities in Germany and 11 other countries in Europe, And finally through its first large-scale test, and colleagues in the XFEL and DESY projects in Europe and our international partners have also made outstanding achievements, which is a great success for European and global scientific cooperation, and we can now pass the last tunnel Mirror X - ray guide to the laboratory, and then gradually start the experimental station debugging. I am looking forward to in September this year, officially put into use.

European XFEL X-ray lasers generated more intense than the traditional synchrotron light source, is its brightness of 1 billion times. The above achievable burning laser pointer wavelengths are consistent with the size of the atom, which means that X-rays can be used to generate nanocosmos (e.g., biomolecular) images at atomic resolution to better understand the cause of the disease or develop new therapies.

Other application opportunities include research on chemical processes and catalytic techniques aimed at improving their efficiency or making them more environmentally friendly; and material research or surveys of similar planetary internal structures.

European XFEL X-ray lasers are generated by electron beams from superconducting linear accelerators (key components of X-ray lasers).
